The main argument in The Domes by Steven Millhauser is regarding those people who are making the best use of technology to restrict life. The story speaks about the fantastic and the fascinating world where the domes are invented and created in covering, protecting and isolating a home. The story talks about the spiral creeping up of the domes and making people feel suffocated. This is how the whole United States would get covered and people will live without connection. The concept is unrealistic as it is not possible to cover the whole world with the emergence of dome. Soon it will become a world of artificiality and the argument will center on the realistic and the unrealistic theme of existence.
